Other travel requirements

The European health pass (or digital EU Covid certificate) proves that you have been vaccinated, cured or that you tested negative to Covid-19. It allows you to travel freely within the European Union.

Depending on your situation, the European health pass can consist of:

- A vaccination certificate;
- A recent negative Covid-19 test certificate;
- An old positive Covid-19 test certificate, which proves your recovery.

These proofs are issued by a member country of the European Union. They are subject to specific criteria of eligibility set independently by each country. In some cases, a recent negative test may be required in addition to the vaccination certificate. Please visit TravelDoc to review the requirements before traveling.

No matter the proof presented and its format (paper or digital), it must include a QR code that can be scanned at the airport.

If you are vaccinated

Your European health pass (or digital EU Covid certificate) consists of a vaccination certificate. You must wait 2-4 weeks after your last injection to travel with it, depending on the vaccine you received and on your situation. Some countries may require a recent negative test in addition to the vaccine.

As of June 25 2021, vaccination certificates are delivered in paper format immediately after your last injection. Should you prefer to have it digitally, you can download the TousAntiCovid app and scan the QR code at the bottom of left of your paper certificate.

If you received your last injection before June 25 2021, you can download your vaccination certificate from your healthcare provider’s website. You can then print it or import it into the TousAntiCovid app.

If you are not vaccinated, or have yet to receive all your injections

Your European health pass (or digital EU Covid certificate) consists of a negative Covid-19 test certificate or a proof of recovery.

If you have never tested positive for Covid-19, you must obtain a recent negative test certificate that complies with the regulations imposed by all the countries through which you transit and by your destination country. You can download this certificate from the SI-DEP portal, or from the e-mail or text message your laboratory sent you. To check which regulations apply to you, visit TravelDoc.

If you have already tested positive for Covid-19, you can present proof of recovery to enter certain countries. A valid proof of recovery should show positive test results dated 2 weeks to 6 months prior to your travel date, depending on the country. You can download the proof of recovery from the SI-DEP portal. To check which regulations apply to you, visit TravelDoc.

When leaving certain countries, French authorities require a negative Covid-19 test to enter or return to France. If your test is positive, you will be denied boarding. You will then have to extend your stay, in accordance with local health regulations, until you no longer test positive for Covid-19.

For all other countries, a Covid-19 test is strongly recommended. If you cannot show this result, you will have to take a test in France, at the arrival airport. You may also be required to undergo quarantine.

Before your return to France, make sure to check the latest travel requirements for your departure country on the TravelDoc website.
